THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE
by
Charles Finney
The Spirit-Filled Life was copyrighted and printed by Whitaker House, 30 Hunt Valley Circle, New Kensington, PA, in 1999. The book has 220 pages containing twelve of the sermons preached by Charles Finney at Oberlin College during the years 1845-1861. Charles Finney was born in 1792 and died in 1875. He was formally educated as a lawyer who God called to preach the Gospel while a young man. His style of preaching was the same as he had used when making a presentation before a jury in a courtroom. The material was presented in a clear and factual manner which brought conviction upon those who heard him preach.
Listed below are the titles of the twelve sermons contained in The Spirit-Filled Life.
The Inner and Outer Revelation
The Saviour Lifted Up
Where Sin Occurs, God Cannot Wisely Prevent It
Quenching the Spirit
The Spirit Not Always Striving
God's Love Commended to Us
On the Atonement
On Trusting in the Mercy of God
Christ, Our Advocate
The Gathering of the Great Harvest
The Christian Duty of Converting Sinners
Essential Elements of the Christian Experience
This material in this book was written a over a century ago and the publisher has not updated the text to today's language. For that reason it is a little more difficult to read than current-day authors. However, I heartily recommend this book to any who are seeking more of God. Charles Finney presents for us some points to seriously consider for living a spirit-filled life.
