The Descendants of John Whitfield Generation No. 3 3. Annie3 Whitfield (John2, John1) was born April 15, 1878 in England, and died 1961 in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor Co. Washington. She married (1) Hugh Rumney1. He was born April 11, 1878 in England, and died September 05, 1912 in Seattle, Washington. She married (2) Norris Hunter. He was born 1871 in Knoxville, New Brunswick, Canada, and died April 03, 1952 in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor Co. Washington. Annie (Whitfield) Rumney moved from Seattle, Washington to Aberdeen, Washington sometime between September of 1912 and December of 1916. The third child, Maxine, was born to Annie and her second husband, Norris Hunter, on December 24, 1916 in Aberdeen, Washington. The 1920 Federal Census shows the Norris Hunter family living on Forsythe Street in Aberdeen, Washington. This obituary for Annie (Whitfield) Hunter appeared in the Aberdeen, Washington Daily World Newspaper. Annie Hunter, 83, Claimed by Death Mrs. Annie Whitfield Hunter, 83, a long-time Aberdeen resident, died early this morning at a local hospital. Mrs. Hunter had lived at the family home at 1323 North B Street continuously from 1927 until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Surviving are three daughters, four sisters and two brothers in England; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Whiteside's. Annie Whitfield was buried in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WashingtonFamily lore is that Hugh Rumney and Annie Whitfield were married in England. Hugh came to Ladysmith, British Columbia and worked long enough to pay for his wife to come to Canada where he was living. From there they came to Seattle, Washington where the first two children were born. When Hugh died in September of 1912 Annie was too poor to pay for burial of Hugh so she had him cremated. After she moved to Aberdeen, Washington she had the ashes buried in the cemetery there. The following obituary for Norris Hunter, was printed in the Aberdeen Daily World Newspaper about April 3rd or 4th, 1952. Norris Hunter Called By Death Norris Hunter, 80, old-time Grays Harbor logger died this morning at a local hospital. A resident of the Harbor for 48 years, Hunter worked in the woods until about 13 years ago when he retired because of failing eyesight. He was born at Knoxville, New Brunswick, Canada, but spent his youth in Maine. He came to Grays Harbor from Michigan. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal church. Survivors are his wife Annie, at the family home, 1323 North B Street; three daughters, two brothers, two sisters, one sister-in-law, a nephew, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Whiteside chapel with the Rev. B. Stanley Moore officiating. Concluding rites will be at Fern Hill cemetery. Annie, wife, age 41, born in England Daughter, age 4 1/2, born in Washington Daughter, age 12, born in Washington Helen, daughter, age 14, born in Washington Annie and Hugh Rumnney had two children. The oldest daughter married Joseph Marion Randich on June 29, 1957. Joseph was born July 13, 1894 in Croatia and died in Aberdeen, Washington. The second daughter, Helen Ann Rumney, was born November 12, 1909 in Seattle, Washington. She died on March 21, 1996 in Aberdeen, Washington Annie Whitfield and Norris Hunter had one child, a daughter born in Aberdeen in 1916.
